Humans Vs Robots

By 6 February, 2017Sin categoría

“But I don’t want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.”

The Savage in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World

It’s been an interesting conversation piece of late. The world of robots, artificial intelligence, automation, and virtual reality are little understood my most, but feared by many.  Rapid advances in technology that are here to stay, once too expensive to become commonplace, will indeed permeate our lives, deeply into our organisations and workplaces.

This new world, dawning faster than we can imagine, raises so many questions. How do we make humans feel useful and productive when machines can do much of their work? How do we leverage the productivity and efficiency gains that these technologies afford, so that we don’t enslave ourselves to work and greater productivity? How do we use the space presumably created by technology in our work lives to invite humans to become MORE human? How can we embrace automation so that we might more brilliantly allow a fuller self expression of the human being at work, with creativity, ideas, beauty and enchantment as core indicators of success? What is desirable? What is most scary? What do people want? Does it matter?

We’re inviting you to have your say, visit our Humans Vs Robots Challenge at MindHive and contribute your ideas, thoughts, experiences around this growing challenge in our workplaces. The future of work is a vastly different landscape to the one we see now. How are you preparing for it? It’s easy to contribute, simply register as a Hiver at MindHive and join the Challenge!

We are truly honoured that Tim Leberecht, aka The Business Romantic, will grace our shores with his enchanting presence in March/April and Dr Catriona Wallace will enlighten us on all things bot, and Artificial Intelligence, debunking myths and turning our attention to the gifts that these technologies bring.

Here’s a beautiful invitation from our co-conspirator of The Business Romantic Tour, the fabulous Mykel Dixon

Beautiful people,

I have a request
that doubles as an invitation,
and triples as an opportunity.

If you work for an organisation,
or your own hand-made vocation,
but your unique contribution,
exists beyond,
what’s printed on,
your job description.

If the real value that you bring,
cannot be measured by machines,
if who you are,
stands firm in contrast,
to the status quo in most things,

Then I have a gift for you.

A way to find more people like you.
A sacred space to dance & swoon,
with conversations that until now,
have been laughed or locked outside,
the company boardroom.

We’ve built a temporary home,
for those who seek a way to know,
the best way forward,
through a time with no clear path.

We’ve gathered visionary folks,
who work to keep the world afloat,
who won’t submit, consent or bow,
to half the stuff that’s happening now,

Who stand up tall and then stare down,
the divisive & transactional,
reductionist & impersonal,
sanitised & clinical
approach to work
that the rest of us
have clearly outgrown.

This event is for the people,
who know that business can be beautiful,
who strive for serendipity,
design for enterprise artistry,
who encourage those they touch,
to put a little more love,
into the way they make a crust.

Because this,
this is our chance,
to bring a little business romance.
